Bermuda-based Marvell marks the opening of a new automotive electromagnetic compatibility lab in North America, the first in the region with CISPR 25 qualification.

Marvell, which has its U.S. headquarters in Santa Clara, CA, and additional R&D centers in China and Israel, says the new facility will allow its ethernet products to be designed into system solutions that meet tough EMC requirements from automakers and suppliers and help speed products to market.

CISPR 25, a standard for measuring EMC created by the 84-year-old Comité International Spécial des Perturbations Radioélectriques (or International Special Committee on Radio Interference), is an increasingly popular benchmark and requirement for body electronics.

The new lab, located on Marvell’s Santa Clara campus, will allow the semiconductor producer to ensure electromagnetic interference from both internal electronic control units and external sources are prevented, allowing various electronic controls to function as designed, the company says.

“The Marvell automotive EMC lab is a clear example of how we help our customers achieve success,” says Will Chu, vice president and general manager-Automotive Business Unit. “With this unique facility, we are able to support our automotive customers to solve their toughest EMC challenges more effectively and efficiently.”
