Mercedes' flagship sedan lineup has been expanded at both ends of the price spectrum. The "entry-level" S350, employing a 241-hp, 3.7L V-6 and 5-speed automatic transmission, is priced $10,400 below the 4.3L V-8-powered S430 with 7-speed automatic transmission – formerly the least-costly S-Class model. In most other aspects, the two models are the same, except that the 4Matic all-wheel-drive option is not offered on the V-6 model. At the opposite end of the price range, the new S65 AMG incorporates the AMG-honed, 605-hp, twin-turbo V-12 and 5-speed automatic transmission from the SL65 AMG. In addition, upgraded AMG-developed suspension components, brakes and revised stability control system are standard.
