STUTTGART, Germany – Mercedes-Benz’s Maybach sub-brand has given the S-Class sedan added exclusivity with the unveiling of a facelifted model featuring styling elements first explored on its flamboyant Maybach 6 concept car.

Set to make its public debut at the Geneva auto show ahead of planned North American deliveries in September, the ʼ18 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class sedan receives a bold new grille with vertical louvers similar in style to that used by the Maybach 6 concept car, together with an altered front bumper featuring more chrome within its lower section.

The new-look front end is designed to make the Maybach S-Class more visually distinct from standard S-Class models and comes as Mercedes-Benz prepares to add other new models to the Maybach lineup, including a plush new version of the third-generation GLS to be unveiled at the 2018 Los Angeles auto show.

Further changes to the big 4-door include a distinctive new two-tone paint scheme. Available in nine different color combinations, it comes with a double clearcoat finish as an added option for darker colors, creating what Mercedes-Maybach describes as a piano lacquer effect and impression of depth within the paint.

Also included in the Maybach S-Class’s midlife facelift are a new range of 20-in. wheels.

Inside there are two new color combinations, Armagnac brown/black and savanna beige/black, together with leather upholstery featuring new color combinations for the stitching.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is offered with the choice of two gasoline engines: a turbocharged 4.0L V-8 making 464 hp in the S560 and a turbocharged 6.0L V-12 developing 621 hp in the S650.
