CREWE, U.K. – Bentley announces the launch of its fastest-ever 4-door sedan, the Flying Spur W12 S.
It is the first 4-door Bentley to have a top speed in excess of 200 mph (322 km/h), and the luxury brand says it offers sports-inclined customers increased power, torque and chassis responsiveness.
The Flying Spur W12 S boasts a 6.0L twin-turbo W12 engine generating 635 hp and 605 lb.-ft. (820 Nm) of torque from just 2,000 rpm. Besides a claimed top speed of 202 mph (325 km/h), Bentley says the W12 S clocks a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) sprint time of 4.2 seconds.
As with other Bentleys, power is channeled through an all-wheel-drive system with a 40:60 rear-biased torque split. Despite suspension tuning with a sports focus, the automaker claims its S derivative remains a luxury sedan for those who wish to be chauffeured, as well as those who choose to drive.
Its design features a number of dark styling cues including a suite of blackware detailing with Beluga-gloss radiator grille and light surrounds, a rear diffuser and an optional carbon-fiber veneer.
Inside, the cabin features a black engine-spin finish to the fascia and waist rails, a W12 S headrest emblem in contrast or blind stitching, moniker tread plates for the front and rear, a 3-spoke sports steering wheel and knurled gearshift paddles.
“The Flying Spur W12 S is the ultimate luxury performance sedan,” Bentley chairman and CEO Wolfgang Durheimer says. “It combines sharper dynamics and an increase in power from our renowned W12 engine with a more assertive exterior and interior design for customers looking for a Flying Spur with extra attitude.”
Deliveries of the car will begin by year-end.
