Suzuki, Daihatsu Take Center Stage at Tokyo Show

TOKYO – The mighty mites of the Japanese auto industry, Suzuki and Daihatsu, release photos of their concept cars for this month's 2013 Tokyo Motor Show.

Suzuki's biggest star will be the 4-wheel-drive Crosshiker. Powered by a 1.3L gasoline engine, the car weighs just 1,780 lbs. (810 kg).

Next up is the X-Lander, an open off-road vehicle based on the 1.3L Jimmy. And finally: the Crossover Hustler and Crossover Hustler Coupe. No specs were provided.

Rival Daihatsu will show off two sports-car concepts, the Kopen “future included” Rmz and Xmz. Both are powered by 0.66L, 3-cyl. gasoline engines mated to continuously variable transmissions.

Although the photo doesn't show it, Daihatsu’s Deca Deca is billed as an office on wheels, boasting extensive – and flexible – interior space. The 0.66L minivan features double doors on both sides.

The FC Deck is the latest concept incorporating Daihatsu's proprietary fuel-cell technology.
