Ford Prepping Mustang for November Arrival in U.K.

Some 80% of U.K. customers are opting for the fastback body style over the convertible and 70% want the 416-hp 5.0L V-8 over the more fuel-efficient 317-hp 2.3L EcoBoost engine.

Ford U.K. has taken almost 2,000 orders for the Mustang as right-hand-drive cars begin to roll off the production line at the automaker’s assembly plant in Flat Rock, MI.

Deliveries of the first-ever right-hand drive Mustang begin in the U.K. in November and Ford U.K. says it has secured extra supplies to meet the greater-than-expected demand.

Some 80% of U.K. customers are opting for the fastback body style over the convertible and 70% want the 416-hp 5.0L V-8 over the more fuel-efficient 317-hp 2.3L EcoBoost engine.

The 6-speed manual transmission is the choice of 55% of customers, ahead of the 6-speed automatic.

More than half of U.K. Mustangs have been specified with a custom pack that includes satellite navigation, a Shaker Pro 12-speaker audio system, heated and cooled front seats, a rearview camera, silver-alloy wheels and extra chrome detailing on fastback models.

Race Red is the exterior color choice for 23% of orders. Magnetic Silver and Shadow Black follow with 16.1% each, ahead of Deep Impact Blue (10.7%) and Triple Yellow (8.6%). Ebony Black is the interior color selected by more than 75% of customers.

The right-hand-drive Mustang is available to order in the U.K. from £29,995 ($47,148) for the EcoBoost version and £33,995 ($53,433) for the V-8 model.
