First Bentayga SUVs Roll Off Bentley Assembly Line

The 4-seat, all-wheel-drive SUV is powered by an all-new twin-turbocharged 6.0L W-12 engine making 600 hp and 664 lb.-ft. of torque.

The first Bentley Bentayga rolls off the production line after four years in development, and with full production under way, deliveries of the luxury SUV will begin in January.

The Bentayga saw more than 1,500 U.K. jobs created as part of an £840 million ($1.26 billion) investment program, one of the biggest in the brand’s history.

The first production Bentayga was handcrafted over 130 hours in the Bentley factory in Crewe, 180 miles (290 km) northwest of London. During the assembly process, it passed through a new body line, a new paint shop and a new assembly line.

The 4-seat, all-wheel-drive Bentayga is powered by an all-new twin-turbocharged 6.0L W-12 engine making 600 hp and 664 lb.-ft. (900 Nm) of torque. It reaches 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.0 seconds and its top speed is 187 mph (301 km/h).

The base Bentayga will be priced at $229,100 in the U.S. and £152,000 ($241,400) in the U.K.
