Audi Plays Politics to Regain No.1 on Auto Ads List

The commercial shows a man and a woman at an unspecified election-related event engaging in a knock-down, drag-out fight to see who gets to drive the Audi.

An Audi ad alluding to the rough-and-tumble U.S. political climate takes the top spot in the weekly Most Engaging Auto Ads rankings, powered for WardsAuto by iSpot.tv.

The ad shows a man and a woman at an unspecified election-related event – there’s red, white and blue bunting decorating the place – engaging in a knock-down, drag-out fight. Spoiler: They’re actually fighting over who gets to drive the Audi. The ad has charted before, but gained fresh buzz after airing during postgame coverage of last Wednesday’s Trump-Clinton debate in Las Vegas.

BMW grabs second place with a new cinematic-style trailer for “The Escape,” the latest output from its revived BMW Films operation. Clive Owen, star of “The Hire,” released episodically from 2001 to 2002, returns for “The Escape.”

Another new entry in the ranking at No.3 is a Jaguar spot that stars astrophysicist Stephen Hawking. Closing out the chart are repeats from Ford and Kia.
