Aston Martin Pumps Up the Power in New Vanquish S

The revamped 592-hp model reaches showrooms in December.

Performance junkies who still want a luxurious gran tourer are the target for Aston Martin’s breathed-on new Vanquish S.

It’s the naturally aspirated 6.0L V-12 that’s had its breathing improved to coax 592 hp out of it, up from 565 hp on the previous model first launched in 2001.

The power hike comes thanks to larger volume inlet manifolds, allowing a greater amount of air to flow into the engine at high engine speeds.

The second-generation Vanquish S also has had extensive modifications to chassis, transmission and aerodynamics to handle the extra performance.

A recalibration of its 8-speed Touchtronic III transmission delivers faster gearshifts and improved refinement at low speeds. Likewise, the suspension, damper internals, spring rates and anti-roll bar have been re-tuned to give the Vanquish S sharper handling without compromising its ability to deliver a supple ride.

Visually the Vanquish S is distinguished by a new aerodynamic package. Fashioned from exposed carbon fiber, the revised front splitter and rear diffuser combine to deliver a meaningful reduction in frontal lift with a minimal penalty in additional drag. It also sports new quad exhaust outlets to give it a more aggressive appearance.

Other body kit options include carbon-fiber hood louvers, new forged 5-spoke diamond-turned wheels and a choice of striking painted graphics packs and a blinged-up Vanquish S badge sits on the tailgate to announce its presence.

Inside, the Vanquish S can be further tailored to the customer’s tastes with a choice of “Filograph” quilted leather and the use of new materials and finishes, such as the Satin Chopped Carbon Fiber fascia panel, Bridge of Weir Caithness leather and Vanquish S embroidery on the headrests.

Vanquish S is available in both Coupe and Volante versions and the recommended retail price starts from £199,950 in the U.K., €262,950 in Germany and $294,950 in the U.S. Deliveries will begin in December.
